Quick answer

Business Loan Hotline is staffed 9am to 5pm Melbourne time, Monday to Friday. In Western Australia that's 7am to 3pm from early April to early October, and 6am to 2pm during eastern daylight saving, because WA doesn't change its clocks. Early mornings are often the easiest time for WA owners to ring, before the working day gets busy. Or leave an enquiry and name a time.

Key points

  • WA is two hours behind Melbourne in winter and three hours behind in summer.
  • Our window in Perth time: 7am–3pm (April to October), 6am–2pm (October to April).
  • Early calls suit many WA tradies and operators; afternoons are short.
  • The 2026–27 daylight saving period runs from 4 October 2026 to 4 April 2027 in the eastern states.

When is the line open in WA time?

Our specialists work Melbourne business hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Western Australia runs on Australian Western Standard Time all year and doesn’t use daylight saving. Victoria does. So the gap between us changes twice a year:

Period (2026–27)Gap to MelbourneOur line in WA time
Now until Saturday 3 October 20262 hours behind7:00am – 3:00pm
Sunday 4 October 2026 to Saturday 3 April 20273 hours behind6:00am – 2:00pm
From Sunday 4 April 20272 hours behind7:00am – 3:00pm

The eastern states’ daylight saving for 2026–27 starts on Sunday 4 October 2026 and ends on Sunday 4 April 2027. The call planner does this conversion live, so you can check the exact window on any day.

What’s the best time to ring from WA?

In practice, WA owners who ring us tend to fall into two camps.

The early callers. Tradies, transport operators, farmers and anyone whose day starts on site often find a call at 6:30 or 7am their time is the easiest of the day. The phone’s quiet, the crew hasn’t arrived, and the numbers are fresh. That early window is a genuine advantage of being on the west coast.

The midday callers. Retail, hospitality and office-based owners often prefer a late-morning or lunchtime call. From October to April, remember our line closes at 2pm your time, so don’t leave it until mid-afternoon.

What doesn’t work: afternoons after 2pm in summer, and after 3pm in winter. If that’s the only time you can talk, leave a 60-second enquiry and tell us your constraints. We’ll find a time inside our window that suits.

Using a call-back from Perth

Because our window sits early in your day, a call-back can be the easiest option. A few tips:

  • Put “WA” and a time in your enquiry. “Please call after 7:30am WA time” or “Tuesday before 10am WA” is exactly what we need.
  • Save 03 4059 1829 in your phone. A Melbourne area code at 6:15am might otherwise look like a spam call.
  • If you miss us, ring back. Our page on how call-backs work covers the rest.

What comes up on calls from WA

The conversation itself is the same wherever you are. Our first-minute script works just as well from Karratha as from Carlton. But a few WA-specific things are worth having in mind.

Property security in WA. If you’re considering a property-secured loan, mention whether the property is in metropolitan Perth or regional WA, and what type it is. Location and property type affect valuation and which lenders are comfortable, particularly for rural, remote or mining-town properties. Property-secured business loans run from $20,000 to $5,000,000.

State taxes. Land tax in WA is administered by the Department of Treasury and Finance. If a state tax bill, such as land tax or payroll tax, is part of why you’re calling, say which one and when it’s due. It’s treated like any other business purpose.

Seasonal and project income. Many WA businesses have lumpy income tied to projects, harvest, tourism seasons or FIFO rosters. Describe the pattern when you call. See how to describe turnover.

Public holidays: yours and ours

Our line follows Victorian public holidays. That means:

  • On a public holiday that’s WA-only, such as WA Day, our line may still be open.
  • On a Victorian public holiday, such as Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 3 November 2026, our line is closed even though WA is working.

The call planner skips Victorian public holidays automatically when it shows the next open window.

Free help in Western Australia

Alongside finance, WA has good free support for small businesses. The Small Business Development Corporation is a state government agency providing free advice and low-cost services to small business owners throughout WA, including business advisory support and dispute resolution. If part of your cash-flow problem is a dispute with a customer, landlord or supplier, it’s worth a call to them as well.

A WA example

A small civil contractor in Bunbury needs about $120k for a second-hand loader before a council job starts in three weeks. The owner rings at 6:45am WA time in November, before heading to site. In ten minutes, the specialist learns the business has traded five years, deposits run around $90k a month, and the owner has a home with equity. By 7am the owner knows which options are realistic and has a short list of documents.

Illustrative example only.

Before you ring from WA

Because our window sits early in your day, it’s worth having things ready the night before if you plan an early call:

  1. Purpose, amount and timing. Write it as one sentence you can read out.
  2. Monthly deposits for recent months, and how your project, harvest or roster cycle affects them.
  3. Your ABN, structure and time trading.
  4. Existing finance, which for many WA businesses includes vehicle and heavy equipment loans.
  5. Property details, if relevant: metro or regional, type, owners, value and what’s owing.
  6. Any ATO position and whether lodgements are current.

Mining services and resources suppliers often have long payment terms from large customers. If you’re waiting 45, 60 or more days to be paid for work already done, say so and name the terms. Explaining the gap between invoice and payment helps the specialist choose a structure that fits the cycle rather than fighting it.

Agricultural businesses in the Wheatbelt and the south-west should describe the harvest cycle and when grain or produce payments usually land. And if you’re calling while a contract is about to start, our page on tight deadlines shows how to set out the date so nothing is lost.

Frequently asked questions

What time can I call Business Loan Hotline from Perth?

From early April to early October, 7am to 3pm Perth time on weekdays. From early October to early April, 6am to 2pm Perth time, because Melbourne moves to daylight saving and WA doesn't.

Why does the time change if WA doesn't have daylight saving?

Because Melbourne does. When Victoria moves its clocks forward, the gap between Melbourne and Perth grows from two hours to three, so our 9am start becomes 6am in WA.

Can you call me back after 2pm WA time?

Our line runs on Melbourne business hours, so late WA afternoons fall outside them in summer. Leave an enquiry with a preferred time and we'll call within our window, as close to it as we can.

Do you lend to businesses in regional WA?

Yes. We help businesses Australia-wide. For property-secured loans, the property's location and type affect the valuation and which lenders suit, so mention it early.

Are WA public holidays a problem?

Our line follows Victorian public holidays. On a WA-only public holiday, the line may still be open; on a Victorian public holiday, it's closed even if you're working.

Ready to talk it through?

Ring the line now if it suits, or leave your details for a call-back at a time that works. No credit check when you first enquire, and your details stay with one team.
