The simplest time zone maths in the country

South Australia has one of the easier conversions. It sits on Australian Central Standard Time, half an hour behind Melbourne, and it moves to daylight saving on the same Sundays Victoria does. The result: our line, 9am to 5pm Melbourne time, is always 8:30am to 4:30pm in Adelaide.

The only days you need to watch are Victorian public holidays. The call planner skips those automatically.

Broken Hill and the far west of NSW

Here’s a quirk worth knowing: Broken Hill is in New South Wales but runs on South Australian time. If you’re calling from there, use the Adelaide window above, not the Sydney one. The call planner has a separate Broken Hill option so it gets this right.

Best times to ring from SA

• Right at 8:30am. A good slot if you open your shop, clinic or workshop at 9 and want the call done first.
• Late morning. Usually the most relaxed part of the window.
• Before 4:30pm. A 4:45pm call in Adelaide is 5:15pm in Melbourne, which is after we close.

Public holidays

Our line follows Victorian public holidays. South Australia has some of its own, and on those days our line may be open. On Victorian public holidays, such as Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 3 November 2026, the line is closed even if you’re working in Adelaide.
