Business Loan Hotline is staffed 9am to 5pm Melbourne time on weekdays. From early April to early October, that's also 9am to 5pm in Queensland. Our line in Queensland time
Queensland stays on Australian Eastern Standard Time all year. Victoria switches to daylight saving from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April. Our line follows Melbourne business hours, 9am to 5pm on weekdays, so here’s how it lands on a Queensland clock:
| Period (2026–27) | Our line in Queensland time |
|---|---|
| Now until Saturday 3 October 2026 | 9:00am – 5:00pm |
| Sunday 4 October 2026 to Saturday 3 April 2027 | 8:00am – 4:00pm |
| From Sunday 4 April 2027 | 9:00am – 5:00pm |
For half the year you won’t notice any difference. For the other half, the key thing to remember is that we close at 4pm your time. The call planner shows the window for any day, and skips weekends and Victorian public holidays.
Best times to ring from Queensland
A few patterns work well for Queensland owners:
- Early in summer. From October to April, our line opens at 8am Queensland time. If your day starts on a job site or in a kitchen, a call at 8am before things get busy can be ideal.
- Late morning to early afternoon. Most reliable year-round.
- Not late afternoon in summer. A 4:30pm call in January is 5:30pm in Melbourne. We’ll have gone home.
If none of those suit, send a 60-second enquiry and mention a preferred time. We’ll call inside our window as close to it as we can.
What comes up on calls from Queensland
The conversation follows the same shape wherever you are. Our first-minute script covers the opening. A few Queensland-flavoured points come up often.
Seasonal and tourism income. Queensland has plenty of businesses with strong seasonal patterns: tourism on the coast and in the north, events, agriculture, and building activity that shifts with the weather. When you describe turnover, describe the pattern too. Our page on turnover and bank statements shows how.
Weather disruptions. If a storm, flood or cyclone has interrupted trading, say so and say when. A dip with a clear cause reads very differently from an unexplained one.
State taxes. The Queensland Revenue Office administers state taxes including land tax, payroll tax and transfer duty. If a state tax bill is part of the reason you’re calling, say which and when it’s due.
Property security. For property-secured loans from $20,000 to $5,000,000, mention whether the property is in South East Queensland, a regional centre or a rural area, and what type it is. This affects valuation and which lenders suit. See describing property as security.
Public holidays
Our line follows Victorian public holidays, not Queensland’s. So:
- On a Queensland-only public holiday, our line may be open.
- On a Victorian public holiday, such as Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 3 November 2026, our line is closed.
If in doubt, the call planner checks for you.

A Queensland example
A Sunshine Coast tour operator wants about $90k to refurbish a boat before the summer peak. It’s early October, so the owner knows our line opens at 8am Queensland time. They ring at 8:10am, before the first booking calls come in. They explain that winter turnover is roughly half of summer’s, that the business has traded eight years, and that they own their home. By 8:25am they know which options suit a seasonal business and what documents will be needed.
Illustrative example only.
Queensland time zone quirks, briefly
- Queensland never changes its clocks.
- In summer, Queensland is an hour behind New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria and Tasmania, and half an hour behind South Australia.
- In winter, Queensland lines up with the other eastern states.
For your neighbours’ times, see New South Wales and the Northern Territory.
Before you ring from Queensland
Queensland owners who get the most out of a first call usually have a handful of things ready:
- The purpose, amount and timing, in a sentence.
- Monthly deposits, and how different your best and worst months are.
- What’s already owed: loans, equipment finance, cards and any ATO arrangement.
- Property details if you’re open to using property: whether it’s in South East Queensland, a regional city or rural, who owns it, and what’s owing.
- Anything that might surprise a lender, such as a weather-related closure, a past default or an unlodged BAS.
If your business was affected by a natural disaster, you may have received grants or support payments. Mention these if they appear in your statements, so they aren’t mistaken for normal trading income, and say how trading has recovered since.
The planner is especially handy during Queensland summers, when the hour’s difference with Melbourne catches people out. The call planner shows exactly when our line is open for you today and tomorrow, and builds a prep card from your answers. If you’d rather not call during work hours at all, a call-back at an agreed time works just as well; see phone or online to decide which suits.
Ring from Queensland today
Check today’s window in the call planner, then call 03 4059 1829. Or leave your details for a call-back at a time that suits. Enquiring doesn’t touch your credit file, your details aren’t spread around a group of lenders, and a real specialist handles your situation. Please tell us you’re in Queensland and give accurate figures, so the first call is the useful one.
Frequently asked questions
What time does Business Loan Hotline open in Queensland?
9am Queensland time from early April to early October, and 8am Queensland time from early October to early April. Weekdays only, and closed on Victorian public holidays.
Why is your line open earlier in Queensland in summer?
Our line runs on Melbourne time. When Victoria moves its clocks forward for daylight saving, Queensland doesn't, so 9am in Melbourne becomes 8am in Brisbane.
Can I call at 4:30pm Brisbane time in December?
No, that's 5:30pm in Melbourne and after our line closes. Ring before 4pm Queensland time during daylight saving months, or leave an enquiry for a call-back.

Yes. We help businesses Australia-wide. For property-secured loans, tell us where the property is and what type it is, because that affects valuation and lender choice.
Where can Queensland small businesses get free help with disputes?
The Queensland Small Business Commissioner supports small businesses with dispute resolution, including leasing disputes, and advocates for small business.
